Welcome
EcoTourists
by Richard H. Stewart
PUBLISHER/EDITOR-IN-CHIEF
I LOVE THIS PLACE!
I travel the world in search of pristine environments
and it never ceases to amaze me how I gravitate back here! Fact is,
for a thriving, growing community, we are graced with an environment
other towns and counties can only dream of having.
On one side we have the powerful Atlantic ocean with all of its ever-moving
marine
creatures — and to the west, the most bio-diverse estuary in
the country. Mother nature truely touched our world here.
I wanted to publish this guide for a number of reasons — to
share with our residents and visitors the need to preserve this gift
— to Respect & Protect it — but I believe that to
do so you have to discover all of the wonderful experiences one can
enjoy with our adventures in nature. Eco-tours, bird watching, the
leisure passing of dolphins and, in the winter, our manatees.
Not to over look all of the aquatic activities from surfing, diving
and sailing to kayaking and canoeing — and honestly, if you
are not out and about in this eco-playground, you are truly missing
our natural treasures.
So I say — welcome to our paradise — enjoy, savor, but
most of all — help us protect this
fragile environment!

ps: a
heart-felt thanks to all of the sponsoring advertisers that made this
guide a reality. Without their support we could not have made it to
press, and to Fielding Cooley, Executive Director of the Marine
Discovery Center - for which this guide is dedicated — for
his support and encouragement in the pursuit of this year-long project!
